Surrender
It's not giving up, it's not giving in... it's the feeling when you have given it your all and you are totally at peace with whatever the outcome will be.
This poem captures the stark contrast in the approaches of living of two people - one who is very ambitious, driven and competitive; and another, who is happy-go-lucky, living life as it unfolds. How these two lose themselves and then truly come to accept and surrender while not giving up hope or effort. Read on to find out and leave your reflections in comments…
She had tried her best,
to go to the west.
Against the current from the start
But did it have to be this hard?
And you thought you’d be here,
Forever to be with your dear.
But fate had it written where you’ll feast.
Because the Sun rises in the East.
For her the pain was real,
And the feeling of winning surreal.
Suffering was the price,
To get the coveted prize.
For you it’s about going along,
Because it’s beautiful all around…
See where life takes you,
It’s to do what you are meant to.
Continuously playing inning after inning
She got too used to winning.
So the game lost its shine…
She started drinking a lot of wine!
Life gave you lemons and marmalade
When you got diamonds, you started missing lemonade.
And so you too were a little stray,
Even though you were happy either way…
Eventually you understood -
What was under the hood
You never had a say!
On what happened in the day.
Meanwhile she found peace too
Outcome of a glass of wine or two?!
All she could really control -
Was the response of her soul.
Birds once caged;
Had now aged.
Life has a way of teaching lessons,
Some we learn and others are confessions.
From every tender fiber of their being -
Call to surrender couldn’t be more freeing.
Three deep breaths - one, two, three;
Are all you need to set yourself free!
